Cardiopulmonary/Respiratory Care Department

Our Respiratory Therapists work closely with the physicians, nursing staff, emergency medical technicians, lab technicians and radiology to ensure that the highest care is given to the patients and their families.

Our respiratory Therapists are interdisciplinary team members who administer all general respiratory therapy procedures.

A Day in the Life of a Respiratory Therapist

Monitoring and maintaining the latest high tech mechanical ventilator.

Responding to a code and maintaining an artificial airway device for a patient who can not breathe on their own.

Performing a PFT or set up a holter monitor.

Obtaining an arterial blood gas sample.

Perform an EEG or ECG.

Give aerosol therapy or oxygen therapy to an infant or asthmatic in distress.

Perform percussion as an adjunct to pulmonary drainage to loosen viscous and tenacious secretion that become lodged in the airways.
