Memorial Hospital of Carbon County (MHCC) offers patients and their families access to a social worker. The social worker acts as a liaison with community agencies, volunteer groups, and chaplaincy and ministerial groups.
Patients who need help understanding patient rights and filling out advanced directives can use provided social services. Social services also assists patients in all areas of mental and psychosocial well-being. No referral is necessary; however many community agency referrals are received throughout Carbon County.
Teri Bustos has a bachelors degree in social work from the University of Wyoming. She has worked with at-risk youth as a community educator, child advocate and victim advocate. She also has completed additional training in working with child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault victims. She earned a certification in victim assistance through the Institute on Victim Studies on Violence, which was sponsored by the Office of the Attorney General.
Currently, Teri serves on the Project Prevention Board and has served as the vice president of the Community Resources Committee for the past eight years. She also serves as a board member for both the Adult Protection Team and the Child Protection Team.
